MPPT (Maximum Power Point Tracking) regulators aim to increase the efficiency of solar panels by taking advantage of their maximum voltage.
Conventional regulators lower the voltage (Vmp) of the panels while keeping the charging current (Imp) constant; MPPT regulators also reduce the panel voltage but compensate for this voltage drop by increasing the charging current.
Compared with conventional regulators, MPPT regulators increase the efficiency of solar panels by 15% to 40%.
